We are connected on a technical level, but increasingly disconnected on a human level

The inability to collaborate and engage as before, has resulted in dramatic declines in innovation, engagement, and trust. There is a growing need for people to find ways to connect to both their work and to those with whom they work.

The pandemic has influenced our understanding of what constitutes a healthy culture in business.

Let us take a few minutes, as a Leadership Community to learn, to share knowledge and to work collectively.

Let's chat

As Leaders we face several Challenges

The most pressing issues for leaders right now are company culture, the ability to authentically connect, and people growth.

Challenge #1
Trust Breakdown

Trust is a growing issue in the hybrid environment. It is hard to build and maintain trust through remote working. How does the Company monitor employees 100% of the time?

It becomes harder for management to have clear oversight of their staff and to track tasks and performance, resulting in an increase in employee tracking and monitoring.

Such micromanagement is counterproductive.

Challenge #2
Isolation

In a hybrid work environment, people may feel socially and professionally isolated, disconnected from the business, their managers, and fellow employees

Without regular ‘in-person’ check-ins, managers may not immediately be aware of signs of burnout or team dysfunction

We are connected on a technical level, but increasingly disconnected on a human level

Challenge #3 Engagement

The inability to collaborate and engage as before, has resulted in dramatic declines in innovation, engagement, and trust.

There is a growing need for people to find ways to connect to both their work and to those with whom they work.

We can no longer depend on the old way of doing things, we are having to search for innovative ways to maintain the company’s core values of community, growth, and collaboration

Why do we need to talk about Culture now?

As hard as it is to ask a Company to change its culture, not changing will ultimately prove to be so much harder. The pandemic has catapulted business into a space in which the only way to survive will be to change.

There is no other option on the table. The new hybrid work environment is forcing Companies to reassess their working models.

People’s needs are changing, and successful businesses will survive because they are flexible and open to change. Culture is having to evolve to keep up with what people are experiencing and demanding. It can no longer be ‘Business as usual.’

What are people feeling?

Mental Wellbeing

Loneliness, Depression and Anxiety

Apart from the many obvious socio-economic repercussions such as a loss of income etc, many are suffering from less obvious effects which affect our mental wellbeing and are being experienced as loneliness, depression, and anxiety.

Hybrid Working

Do not want to return to the old ways

Many people who have been working from home are not keen to return to the office. Less time and money spent travelling, more time with family and flexible work hours are just some of the benefits of a hybrid work environment. It is possible to do work differently and people do not want to go back to the old way of doing things.

Culture Shock

World of work is different

We are experiencing a culture shock – life and work looks different now, how are we going to cope? It is not possible to return to normal, we are having to adjust the way we do life and work to accommodate the virus.
